"MY PLEASURE"

Solo exhibition at Opalka Gallery, Russell Sage College, Albany, NY, 2022

Fifteen paintings from the Black & Raw series, all acrylic on raw unstretched canvas, hang from grommets on mobile racks. Some racks hold two paintings, affording a different view from the rear of the gallery. A hand-painted quote of the artist, from 2009, spans the rear wall. In the entrance are ten painted wood cubes inviting visitors to sit. Flanking them are two murals. Happy Bitch, a large-scale photocopy piece, from 1993, printed black carbon toner on hundreds of sheets of neon orange paper, attached to the wall with push-pins, and opposite is FIngering #37, an ephemeral charcoal fingerprint wall drawing. The latter, created live during the first week of the show, will be painted over at the close.
