SOME PUSSY

1988

One day I took a large picture book of cats to the local print shop, with pages marked, and asked the clerk to make a bunch of black and white photocopies—this is before color copiers or printers. I cut and collaged them onto paper, added press-type captions, and mounted them under glass with a taped edge, all 5 7/8 x 4 3/4 inches. I first showed them in Group Material's iconic Democracy show, at Dia, in 1988. Unfortunately, they began to discolor over time because I had not used archival materials. For the sake of authenticity these images are how they look today, decades later. But for the sake of longevity, in 2024, I made reasonable facsimiles with the appropriate materials, pictured as a series in the black shelf below.
